Download help

You may be able to download the file to your computer but you will not be able to open it if it is password protected and you do not have the necessary password. Remember that, on a dial-up connection, small files (say, 10KB) will download in a few seconds but larger files (500KB or bigger) may take a long time - minutes or more. For large files, a broadband or other fast connection is recommended.

All pdf files require that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or higher installed on your computer. This is a free viewer that can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/. With the Reader installed, often, the pdf files will display in your browser after you simply click on the link. You can then save the file or print it using your local printer. Alternatively, you can right-click the link and select the "Save as" option and then select a location on your hard drive to save the file and it will download to that location. You can then double-click on the file in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder and it will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

With zip archives you should right-click the link and use the "Save as" option to save the file to your hard drive in a convenient directory. If you have a PC, navigate to the file in Windows Explorer. With Windows XP or Vista you can right-click on it, select "Extract all" and follow the prompts from the Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard, putting in the password when prompted to do so. With earlier versions of Windows you will need to use a third party program such as Winzip. If you use a Mac you may be able to open the zip file by double clicking it or you may need to use a third party program such as Stuffit Expander which can be downloaded for free.
